The ICON Impact Body-Mounted Tire Carrier alleviates tailgate stress by placing the load of the spare tire's weight almost exclusively on the reinforced rear corner section of the Jeep's body, where the tailgate attaches, rather than on the tailgate itself. The tailgate and the tire carrier open and close independently but are tethered together with a heim joint linkage so that accessing the Jeep's rear cargo area is still a single-action process. Simply open the tailgate and the tire carrier opens with it. The 2-way adjustable tire mount allows for safe, secure mounting of virtually any tire diameter and wheel offset. The kit also comes with a bracket to relocate the Jeep's license plate to the center of the spare tire. Note that the stock third brake light is eliminated. ICON recommends using a combination LED license plate & third brake light (not included). The ICON Impact Body Mounted Tire Carrier is finished in a durable semi-gloss black multi-stage powder coat.
